When most people think of gender-based violence (GBV), they immediately think of physical abuse. However, this is a dangerous misconception. GBV is far broader, and in today's interconnected world, digital platforms have become a significant source for new forms of violence against women and girls.
Online platforms provide opportunities for:
· Sextortion
· Blackmail for money or sex
· Online Harrassment and Bullying
· Annonymous crime
This is an issue of public concern and not only the government. Therefore, everyone needs to get involved in raising more awareness about digital gender based violent and help to put a complete end to it. It is time for collective action to prevent gender-based violence in all its forms—both online and offline.
